Destination wedding in Colorado? Here are the top things to make time for: Part 1
Red Rocks Amphitheater 17601 17621 W Alameda Pkwy, Morrison, CO 80465
I tell everyone who visits that if you have the opportunity you should not only go to visit but see a show at Red Rocks during your visit. Even if it’s a show you wouldn’t normally go to. It’s an experience you can’t get anywhere else. 🐾
Dinosaur Ridge 16831 W Alameda Pkwy, Morrison, CO 80465
This is catty corner from the Red Rocks property and if you have kids that know anything about dinosaurs this would be such a fun thing to do! Go to the main visitor center and buy a bus ticket tour - $20 for adults and $14 for kids. It’s totally worth it. 🐾
Garden of the Gods 1805 N. 30th Street Colorado Springs, CO 80904
This is an hour from Denver but it’s such a beautiful place to visit. The hike is an easy one to do with the paved paths. Make sure you see the balanced rock and the kissing camels! It’s one of my favorites. 🐾
Broadmoor Hotel 1 Lake Ave, Colorado Springs, CO 80906
If you can afford to stay at the Broadmoor you definitely should! If not, it is open to the public. Last time I was there I had a nice little charcuterie board with my parents at The Grille and went for a walk! 🐾
The Broadmoor Seven Falls 1045 Lower Gold Camp Rd, Colorado Springs, CO 80905
A visit requires a ticket (about $20) and the willingness for a good leg workout. There is a paved walkway to the falls, and then there is a set of stairs that I can tell you I have not even made it all the way up (I hate leg day). What I think is cool is that you can make an entire day out of it and go out to eat halfway through the hike at Restaurant 1858. Here is a funny story about this restaurant: When my parents visit, we try to cross something off this very list. We were on this Seven Falls hike with our dogs - I have a golden retriever (the wild child), and my husband has a pitty (the chill boy). We decided to eat at the Restaurant 1858. We sat on the back porch so the dogs could hang out while we ate. We were almost done with our meal when we realized the pitty was paying close attention to a child who was… taunting him. Not in a malicious way, but they were very aware of each other (the child’s father was very aware of the situation). At some point, the child decides to bark at our pitty, to which his response is a highly calculated, deep “WOOF” back at the child. The kiddo definitely wasn’t expecting it so it spooked him, but we were all laughing, the child’s dad included. His dad said, “What did you expect?!” Awesome experience. 🐾
Stanley Hotel 333 E Wonderview Ave, Estes Park, CO 80517
The Stanley Hotel is full of history and beauty. From The Shining to Dumb and Dumber, this amazing hotel has something for everyone. Take the walking tour for around $25 per person. We have done the tour several times, and I have even worked there as a wedding planner’s assistant before. Hopefully in the next year my parents and I will be staying in one of the haunted rooms! It’s been on our bucket list for a while now.
